At least that's how it worked in Demon's Souls, excluding the fatal upgrades, the DBS was king. It was pretty well accepted that a BS from it would empty the HP of any phantom. That is and isn't true, for the most part. Like was said earlier, the thrusting swords are negating armor in their backstabs/ripostes in ways that the other weapons are not. Best ring in the game!!!!! Easy backstabs!!! Is the old kings ring. It is found inside a chest somewhere in the foggy woods. Basically it is karmic justice but on a ring. Except hits carry over. So you can go and get hit 6 times or until the red aura is large enough.
I try to do both and neither works. You are measuring it wrong, when they say it's backstab, it actually means backstab. It's not like Dark Souls 1 where Backstab was the whole back along with the right half or the left, it actually specifically means to stand directly in the middle of the back and then strike.

Don't get me wrong, I love my adaptability back steps in Dark Souls II. I'm just not certain how balanced it is to have iframes connected to a stat. I still use the back step in DS3, but only very situationally and with certain weapons. CGSs actually do very well with the DS3 back step and I'm sure katanas would do well with one too.

Lag, that's why its called a lagstab. The across the room lagstabs are actually what I consider a lagstab. The in front you you stab is exploiting the system, because there will always be a little lag and on their screen they are actually behind you. The in front stabs are easy to avoid oce you figure out how to do it. 2. Southgrove. • 12 yr

Backstabs do not work just fine. The mechanic is broken AF. It's more about fighting the glitch than fighting PVP. Most players exploiting it are trash. Bleed and poise are not exploits. Like it or not, they're intended mechanics of the game. Call me salty, but Dark Souls PVP is a lot more fun when people lay off exploiting glitches and just dual.
Critical strikes are backstabs and riposte. Backstab. Attacking an enemy from their back at close range will lead to a powerful backstab attack. Backstab attacks deal a huge amount of damage, so it’s always worth trying to do. The attack animation lasts for a short while, but you're invincible while in the animation.

Am I the only one being invaded and being killed by backstabs while the foe isn't even behind me ? Mata level pvp isn't funny at all Being invaded, you fight the guy, dodge him and get teleported forward the guy and he one shots you otherwise that wouldn't be funny at all Wooooooow best experience in my life !

Greathammer class backstabs on flat ground frequently get three hits of full damage, resulting in much higher damage than even backstabs of more powerful strength weapons. (For example, I've only ever cleared 1.5k backstab damage with my Large Club +10, never with my 50-higher-AR Greatsword +10. The two numbers that stick in my mind are a 1920

Including blocking people who do not follow MY rules. 4) Anyone may speak anything about how cool one is. But when a time comes to proof, after loosing to me a few honest battles in a row, noobs are start using chained backstabs. Meantime I try to avoid any backstabs as much as possible (there is a nuance that this is about my pure GC pyromancer).

Seems that theres no longer the need to two hand a weapon after every shield parry. Hurrah for 1 handing! qrqwqrqrq posted I think ripostes also ignore stat requirements, because I could do 200 damage with a bandits knife eventhough I am well under the dex requirement on my level 1 guy (Tho, I didn't really test this all that much, was more busy trying to fly). Once you can counter simple strafing those players become extremely easy to beat, and you can then open your eyes to the rest of dark souls pvp like animation priority tech (toggles to escape stun, backstab chains, priority backstabs), proper spacing to shut down backstab fishing playstyles (reverse rolls, barrel rolls, pivots) and ton of
