The idea comes from Dick Smith’s “Do-it-yourself Monster Make-Up Handbook” published in 1965. In the book, Smith mentions using layers upon layers of cornmeal and latex to create a zombie texture on the skin. Fuller pays homage to Smith's technique and takes it a step further with bigger, crunchier foods.

Step 1 – using your fingers or large makeup brush smear liquid latex in the areas that you’d like to have look like rotting / zombie flesh. Apply a layer of one ply tissue or toilet paper over top. After it's dry you add makeup. For this tutorial I just showed the basic makeup. In the picture at the beginning I used a makeup kit for the entire “dead” look. To make it look realistic add some yellow, green and blue around the gash. I also added some black around the eyes, cheek bones and a little around the mouth.
